He will examine this by looking at the music of two prominent 20th century artists and composers, John Coltrane (Jazz) and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan (Sufi/Qawwali) and link this back to the work of 19th century Music critic and philosopher Eduard Hanslick
Raydolph Renault Raydolph Renault is a Doctoral Researcher at the School of Languages, Cultures and Linguistics, specialising in the sources for reconstructing pre-Islamic Arabian religion within the broader context of Late Antiquity and Near Eastern mythologies.
Shengnan Dong Shengnan Dong is a PhD candidate in the Department of History of Art and Archaeology at SOAS University of London. Her research focuses on Buddhist art, architecture, and visual culture in Tibet from the 10th to 15th centuries. Her current project examines a fifteenth-century chorten (stupa) at Chung Riwoche in Central Tibet.
