This module explores sustainability and climate change policy, examining how these issues are conceptualised, governed, and implemented at global, national, and sub-national levels. Using case studies, readings, discussions, and multimedia, you will analyse sustainability concepts such as circularity and energy transition, proactive policymaking initiatives, public financial management, and the politics and political economy of the green transition. The module develops skills in international policy design, stakeholder assessment, and comparative policy reasoning, enabling you to interpret complex sustainability challenges and evaluate policy and management decisions. By the end, you will be equipped to engage critically with policy debates and contribute effectively in roles across government, development and environmental agencies, international organisations, consultancies, and NGOs. Employability skills developed include analytical thinking, research, communication, digital literacy, political awareness, problem-solving, project management, ethical reasoning, and AI literacy.
