Course overview

Course aim

This course aims to provide you with enough knowledge and confidence to be able to hold a basic conversation and to manipulate the language when finding themselves in situations where Turkish is used.  The course will aim to provide you with the skills to be able to read and understand basic texts as well as write your own ones. As the course progresses, it aims to provide you with further confidence and vocabulary to discuss more complex topics, write and read more challenging texts in the language. This course is delivered by the Language Centre.

Method

The course is taught in Turkish and English. It includes coverage of listening, speaking, reading and writing with guided practice in language usage and use of authentic communicative activities in pairs and small groups. You are expected to attend regularly, participate in class and complete homework regularly to ensure learning progress. You will receive regular feedback from your tutor.

This will be achieved through 20 hours of blended learning: this is composed of 15 hours of online structured lessons with the teacher. This is supplemented by a minimum of 5 hours of guided independent learning supported by complementary material and regular feedback from the tutor. The course objective will be achieved within the 10-week course.
