Biography

Ana’s doctoral research investigates contemporary transformations within the South African housing system, structured around two principal axes.

The first explores the system of housing provision in the context of financialisation, while the second examines the digitalisation of real estate and its effects on housing mobility. Through this work, Ana seeks to contribute to heterodox economic scholarship by employing an interdisciplinary framework that bridges multiple fields. Her academic background reflects this multidisciplinary approach.

Ana holds a BSc in International Relations, a second BSc in Business and Economics, and a MSc in Natural Resource and Ecological Economics. Her interest in the effects of global finance on material realities also motivated her Master Thesis at Humboldt Universität zu Berlin (2024), in which she examines the reconfiguration of cattle commodity chains by Fintech companies in Brazil.

Currently, Ana is the Operations and Budget Editor for the SOAS Journal of Postgraduate Research and works in the real estate sector.
