Biography
Augustine joined the College of Law at SOAS in December 2025. Prior to this appointment, he was a Senior Lecturer in Law at the University of West London.
He previously held roles as Senior Lecturer and Programme Convenor for the LLB Programme at the University of Roehampton London, and before that, as Lecturer in Law, Nottingham Trent University. He holds law degrees from universities in Nigeria, South Africa and the United Kingdom. Augustine has taught several modules across four different UK universities including Public Law and Human Rights, Torts, Criminal Law, European Union Law, Company Law at the undergraduate level as well as Business Law and Sustainable Development at the Postgraduate level. A Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), Augustine is a qualified barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
He brings extensive experience in private wealth management from his time at a leading African non-banking financial institution. In February 2023, he was endorsed by the British Academy as an Exceptional Global Talent in recognition of his contributions to legal scholarship on development and human rights. His leading works include Public-Private Partnerships in Emerging Economies and Human Rights and Standard of Living in Sub-Saharan Africa: Challenges and Prospects, monographs published by Routledge in 2020 and 2025 respectively.
