The Department of Economics at SOAS is a leading centre for economic research that draws on a rich tradition in political economy and development economics to explore a wide range of topics at the core of the global challenges that our economies and societies are facing.
These topics include socio-economic inequalities, the environmental crisis, sustainable finance and investment, structural transformation, financialisation, social reproduction, the political economy of food, informality, labour, the political economy of institutions, corruption, as well as macroeconomic, social and industrial policies.
