Biography
Eren Pilgir has been affiliated with the Department of Qirāʾāt at Marmara University’s Faculty of Theology since 2020. He is an assistant professor in the Department of Qirāʾāt at Marmara University’s Faculty of Theology.
He completed his higher education at Marmara University, earning his BA in 2018, MA in 2020, and PhD in 2025. His doctoral dissertation focused on the historical evolution and development of isnād criticism (taḥrīrāt) over the centuries.
Between January 15, 2023, and January 15, 2024, he conducted advanced research as a visiting scholar at Harvard University under the 2214-A doctoral research fellowship of TÜBİTAK.
His primary areas of expertise include the historical development of Qirāʾāt, the pedagogical development of Qur’ānic recitations, manuscript culture, the reconstruction of Qirāʾāt scholars’ libraries, and the critical edition of classical manuscripts.
His current project is “The Influence of the Shāfiʿī Paradigm in the Science of Qirāʾāt”.
Currently, he is directing with Furkan AKBULUT the project titled “Atlas of Qirāʾāt Studies: A Digital History of Qirāʾāt Centered on Ṭabaqāt Literature (https://kiraatilmiatlasi.com/en).
