About this event

More than three years since October 7, the paradigm on Israel/Palestine has shifted, but, despite some cracks emerging, not yet changed the reality on the ground. The genocide continues, apartheid deepens and the international rules-based order itself is under assault. How are human rights advocates navigating this challenging moment to pursue justice in Palestine?

Join us for a conversation on law, strategy, and justice with Omar Shakir, who is on the frontlines of the fight.

Drawing on his experience leading frontline human rights advocacy in Palestine and across the Middle East, Shakir will explore how civil society and advocates are using legal mechanisms and other strategies to challenge impunity and end complicity in serious crimes in Palestine.

About the Speaker

Omar Shakir is the Executive Director of Democracy for the Arab World Now (DAWN), the Jamal Khashoggi legacy organization that seeks to end US support for repressive regimes in the MENA region, and formerly served for nearly a decade as the Israel and Palestine Director at Human Rights Watch.
