About this event
Part of the SOAS Linguistics Research Seminar series
Speaker: Alexander Cobbinah (University of São Paulo)
Angola is one of the linguistically most underresearched countries in Africa, due to decades of war and lack of infrastructure, while boasting languages like Kimbundu with a wealth of diachronic data going back to the 17th Century.
This talk gives an overview of the current very complex and rather atypical sociolinguistic situation within the African context, as well as the rich missionary productions still awaiting analyses.
