About this event
This event brings three alumni representing three different departments and providing a flavour of careers in politics and policy making after CoSS postgraduate degrees.
Speakers
- Eva Cruzeiro (MSc Global Development 2025); Portuguese and Angolan, Member of the Portuguese Parliament and the only Black woman currently serving in Parliament. Award-winning rap artist, farmer in Angola and agriculture enthusiast, also studying for a doctoral degree in Development Studies. https://www.evacruzeiro.com
- Mariana Mortagua (PhD Economics 2019); Portuguese economist and politician who was the National Coordinator of the Left Bloc until 30 November 2025 and an elected member to the Parliament in Portugal for 12 years, and currently a professor of Political Economy in ISCTE, Lisbon. She is also a board member of ELA - European Left Alliance, and an activist. In 2025 she joined the Global Sumud Flotilla to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza and challenge the Israeli naval blockade.
- Borja Monreal (MSc Globalisation and Multinational Corporations 2016); Director of Public Policy in the Spanish Prime Minister´s Office, coordinating evidence-based policy design and evaluation across ministries. Previously he co-founded SIC4Change a tech-based NGO to solve social problems and worked as a public policy consultant for various international organizations.
