Through architecture, ink painting and installation, 留白 – BEYOND EMPTINESS invites visitors to explore Raymond Fung's distinctive vision of space, nature and cultural tradition. The exhibition reveals how the principles of Chinese ink art inform an architectural practice grounded in harmony with people, place and the environment.

The exhibition aims to explore the harmonious relationship between architecture and ink art, delving deeply into Raymond Fung's unique philosophy, which is profoundly influenced by environmental, local, cultural, and human factors throughout the design process. Fung believes that great architecture must be integrated with the surrounding history, culture, and environment, adhering to the principle of "building less, avoiding the strange," and embracing the philosophy that "nothing gives rise to something, and something arises from nothing." Through this concept, visitors will experience the quiet power conveyed by the works in the space, feeling the notion that "silence speaks louder than words.”

The exhibition will showcase several examples of Fung’s architectural designs, which incorporate cultural and artistic elements, allowing visitors to appreciate how architecture interacts with its surroundings. Additionally, the exhibition will feature his ink paintings and related installations, further exploring the interaction between spaces. The technique of "leaving blank" in traditional Chinese ink painting aptly reflects the tranquillity and depth of space, allowing visitors to experience a rhythmic sense of breathing. At the same time, it encourages reflection on environmental issues, highlighting how respect for and protection of nature can be effectively integrated into architectural design and artistic creation. Through the concept of "Breathing," we invite each visitor to reassess their relationship with the environment and to appreciate the significance and impact of architecture and ink art in contemporary society.
