About this event
Join us for a vibrant evening celebrating El Día de la Canción Criolla, as the Eliana Rosas Band brings the spirit of the traditional jarana peruana—the lively coastal gatherings of Peru—to London. The concert will explore the heart of música criolla and Afro-Peruvian traditions through styles such as vals criollo, landó, festejo, zamacueca, and marinera.
Featuring the renowned Freddy Lobatón, master percussionist and zapateador, the performance will highlight the dynamic dialogue between Afro-Peruvian rhythms, footwork, and ensemble playing, embodying the living pulse of Afro-Peruvian tradition to London.
Peruvian-born Eliana Rosas, a leading voice in London’s Latin music scene, brings traditional blending of Afro, Indigenous, and European influences to keep alive and reimagine the coastal soundscape of Peruvian coastal music. The band brings together well known musicians in the London scene such as Kieffer Santander, Gabriel Jimenez, Lilianne, playing together with Eliana’s dance company. An invitation to the audience to experience an evening of rhythm, movement, and cultural celebration.
