Rokia Koné and Boubacar Samaké

Join us for an evening with Rokia Koné, one of Mali’s most beloved artists and a member of supergroup Les Amazones d’Afrique. 

Her debut album in collaboration with Jacknife Lee earned her widespread acclaim. In this performance her soaring vocals will share the stage with Boubacar Samaké who will accompany her on the donso ngoni to perform songs from the Bamana musical tradition.

Boubacar Samaké is son of the late Donso Ngoni player and singer Sibiri Samaké, a legend of the hunting musical tradition of Mali. Boubacar is following in his father’s footsteps, himself a master of the Ngoni and a talented vocalist, and he will perform a selection of his own songs.
