This special evening will feature a networking reception followed by a panel discussion on “The Evolving Global Order: Navigating a Fractured World.” The panel will be hosted by Nader Souri, Global Head of Corporate & Digital Banking at BNY and SOAS alumnus, and will feature Jack Snyder, Professor of International Relations at Columbia University.

About the speakers

 

Jack Snyder is the Robert and Renée Belfer Professor of International Relations in the political science department and the Saltzman Institute of War and Peace Studies at Columbia University, and Acting Director of the Harriman Institute.

A Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, his books include Human Rights for Pragmatists: Social Power in Modern Times (Princeton University Press, 2022); Human Rights Futures (co-edited with Stephen Hopgood and Leslie Vinjamuri, Cambridge University Press, 2017); Ranking the World: Grading States as a Tool of Global Governance (co-editor with Alexander Cooley, Cambridge University Press, 2015); From Voting to Violence: Democratization and Nationalist Conflict (Norton Books, 2000; Chinese edition, Shanghai Press, 2017); Myths of Empire: Domestic Politics and International Ambition (Cornell University Press, 1991; Chinese edition, 2007). Articles include “Backlash against Human Rights Shaming: Emotions in Groups,” International Theory 12:1 (2020):109-132; “The Broken Bargain: How Nationalism Came Back,” Foreign Affairs 98:2 (March/April 2019), 54-60.

 

 

Nader Souri is the Global Head of Corporate & Digital Banking at BNY. In this role, Nader is responsible for delivering the firm to, and developing partnerships with, some of the world’s largest corporations, FinTechs, and Digital Asset firms. Under Nader’s leadership, the firm continues to be at the forefront of expanding relationships in the sector with a focus on delivering holistic, platform solutions, and ensuring the enduring success of Bank and FinTechs engagements.

His expertise in liquidity and cash management, as well as capital markets, built on his nearly 17 years in a variety of roles at BNY across client coverage and operations, enables him and his team to meet the diverse client needs of this segment. He holds a Masters in Economic Development from SOAS University of London, and lives in Brooklyn, NY.
