About this event

Join us for panel discussion and the launch of the WATCON hub as we explore evolving dynamics and the implications for water security, water justice and the human right to water.

Water security is often framed as a local issue focused on individual access to sufficient and safe water. Yet, this perspective is increasingly inadequate. Local water security is shaped by policies, laws, and institutional arrangements from the sub-national to international scale. In the context of accelerating climate change and hydrological extremes, water must also be understood as a global common—challenging longstanding paradigms of control and appropriation.

WATCON project was assessed by European Research Council and is funded under the UKRI Frontier Research Grants scheme.
