Biography
Ezgi B. Unsal is a Lecturer in Development Economics at SOAS University of London.
She has previously held teaching and research positions at Goldsmiths, SOAS, the University of Winchester, and Kadir Has University in Istanbul. Her research focuses on the political economy of development, financialisation, industrial policy and sustainable development, with a regional emphasis on the Near East and the Mediterranean, and primary field experience in Turkey.
Her work aims to understand how different systems of production operate across countries, with a specific emphasis on firm behaviour and sectoral characteristics.
Her first book, Constructing Change: A Political Economy of Housing and Electricity Provision in Turkey, was published by Brill in 2021. She is the co-convenor of the IIPPE Financialisation Working Group.
