Biography
Matilde joined the College of Law in January 2026 as part of Professor Irini Papanicolopulu's British Academy Global Professorship project ‘Freedom of the Seas and Human Rights Protection’. Prior to joining SOAS, Matilde was a Postdoctoral Researcher in International Law at the University of Milano-Bicocca. She has wide experience working as a Research Consultant for UNICEF and for several NGOs with a focus on human rights and child rights. Matilde obtained her International PhD from the University of Padua. She also holds a Master of Laws (Human Rights Law Specialism) from the London School of Economics - LSE and a Bachelor of Laws (Law with International Relations) from the University of Sussex.
