Michael Hutt, Emeritus Professor of Nepali and Himalayan Studies has published a new book titled, Epicentre to Aftermath: Rebuilding and Remembering in the Wake of Nepal's Earthquakes.

Epicentre to Aftermath was co-edited by Professor Hutt, Mark Liechty and Stefanie Lotter and published by Cambridge University Press.

Epicentre to Aftermath makes both empirical and conceptual contributions to the growing body of disaster studies literature by providing an analysis of a disaster aftermath that is steeped in the political and cultural complexities of its social and historical context. Drawing together scholars from a range of disciplines, the book highlights the political, historical, cultural, artistic, emotional, temporal, embodied and material dynamics at play in the earthquake aftermath.

The book is an output of the AHRC/GCRF-funded project 'After the Earth's Violent Sway' (2017-20), based at SOAS, of which Professor Hutt was the Principal Investigator and Dr. Stefanie Lotter was the Co-Investigator. Epicentre to Aftermath comprises 15 chapters by a total of 33 authors and co-authors, and is available online.
