Biography
Dr Priya Sajjad is the Anthropology in Action Research Fellow at CAMHRA. Within the Policy and Partnerships team, her work explores how mental health is understood, spoken about, and navigated across formal systems and community-based networks of care.
She holds a DPhil and MPhil in Anthropology from the University of Oxford. Her doctoral research ethnographically explored state responses to the Covid-19 pandemic in Pakistan, focusing on how classed, gendered, and sectarian inequalities affected people’s experiences with both the virus and the policies designed to contain it.
Priya is committed to CAMHRA’s mission because she believes that anthropological engagement is critical to how we speak about mental health, how we make sense of it, and how we design systems around it. Without close attention to people’s lived realities, policy risks overlooking what matters most. CAMHRA offers a space where research, training, and dialogue come together to imagine mental health care differently.
