Examples
- Student 1 is taking MSc Violence, Conflict and Development and should choose 'Full Time 1 Year Master's Humanities and Social Science'.
- Student 2 is taking MA Intensive South Asian studies. As this degree is full time over 2 years, they should choose 'Full Time 2 Year Master's Humanities and Social Science'.
- Student 3 is taking LLM in Islamic Law part time over 2 years and should choose 'Part Time 2 Year Master's Humanities and Social Science'.
- Student 4 is taking LLM in International Law part time over 4 years but this is NOT eligible for the PGL
- Student 5 is taking MA Linguistics and Intensive Language part time over 4 years, they should choose "Part Time 4 Year Master's Humanities and Social Science"
- Student 6 is taking a Full time PhD course, they should choose "Full-time 3 Year Doctoral Degree in Humanities and Social Science"
- Student 7 is taking a Part time PhD course, they should choose "Part-time 6 Year Doctoral Degree in Humanities and Social Science"
- Student 8 is taking a Distance Learning MA course which commences in October and intends to study over a 2 year period, they should choose "Part Time 2-year Distance Learning Masters Humanities and Social Sciences – October Start"
- Student 9 is taking a Distance Learning MA course which commences in June and intends to study over a 3 year period, they should choose "Part Time 3-year Distance Learning Masters Humanities and Social Sciences – June Start"
Once you are clear which Student Finance degree title to choose, please go ahead and apply on the Gov.uk website.
Complete the tick-boxes for full-time or part-time study and for the duration of the degree. Then in the course name box type the word ' Masters ' or 'Doctoral' as relevant and click the search icon. You will then be able to click on the correct generic degree title.
Finally, please ensure you sign the Declaration Form and return it to Student Finance – this is the final step in agreeing your loan for the academic year and failure to do so will delay the payment of the loan to you.
