SOAS University of London has climbed into the top 40 universities in the UK, after the Complete University Guide 2021 was published today.

The guide reveals that SOAS has climbed 7 places from its ranking last year, to become the 37th best ranked university in the UK.

This is the second year-on-year rise for SOAS and sees the university return to the top 40 ranking for the first time since 2017.

The Complete University Guide 2021 is highly respected for its responsiveness to the university community, offering applicants comprehensive, accurate and relevant information on university courses that best fit their needs.

The rise in overall ranking for SOAS was also mirrored in a rise in rankings for its student to staff ratio, as well as for its spend on academic services and entry standards.

In addition to the overall university ranking, the individual subjects at SOAS rose in the rankings as well – Economics jumped 9 places to 32nd, Politics climbed three places, and Theology and Religious Studies, East and South Asian Studies and Middle Eastern and African Studies also rose in the rankings.

Valerie Amos, Director of SOAS University of London said:

"I am delighted that SOAS has improved its ranking for the second year in a row, to be recognised as one of the top 40 universities in the UK.

"This is testament to the hard work of our academic and professional services staff who work hard to ensure we deliver a world-class education to students from all over the world. As the world seeks solutions to today’s pressing challenges, SOAS’s global perspective is needed more than ever."
