Dr Maddalena Italia Maddalena Italia is Teaching Fellow in Sanskrit at SOAS, specialising in Sanskrit language and literature, translation, and classical reception.
Sofia Tsourlaki Currently a PhD researcher at SOAS University of London, in the department of religions, Sofia holds an MA in Near and Middle Eastern Studies and a BA (Hons) in Ancient and Modern History.
Professor Richard Fardon Ethnographically, the anthropology of West Africa in general, with a particular focus on the ‘Middle Belt’ of Nigeria and Cameroon. Ethnographic interests, both contemporary and historical, include: politics and religion; ethnicity and identity; material culture. Anthropologically, contemporary theories in social anthropology, and the history of twentieth-century British social anthropology.
Dr Fatemeh Shams Esmaeili My primary research interest concerns the process of literary production under authoritarian states. I have completed my doctoral project on the dialectic of literature and power with a specific focus on post-revolutionary Iran. My current project addresses the same question throughout the history of Persian literature.
