SCI Director Steve Tsang Visited Japan Professor Tsang went to Tokyo, Sapporo and Otaru as a guest of the Government of Japan for a week in December. It was for exchanging views with colleagues in Japan as well as for exploring scope for cooperation.
Surbhi Jain Surbhi Jain is an MPhil/PhD researcher in the Department of Philosophy at SOAS, University of London, specialising in Jaina hermeneutics with a focus on the evolution of the Anuyoga theory. Her interests span wider Jaina philosophy, comparative philosophical traditions, and the study of classical languages relevant to her research.
Alessandra Francone Alessandra Francone is a doctoral researcher in the LCL department. Her thesis "The effects of sociohistorical context on lexical borrowing: a re-evaluation of "basic vocabulary"" straddles historical linguistics and contact linguistics, and focuses on lexical borrowing in languages spoken in the Baltic region and the central Mediterranean.
