- BA

Your fee status
How much you need to pay depends on whether you're assessed as a Home or Overseas student. This is known as your fee status.
Fee increases
Fees are charged in each year of study on your programme. Home fees are capped by the government. The government may raise the cap during the course of students’ studies. If the fee cap rises, SOAS may increase the fee in line with the cap. The UK government has announced the Home fee cap for 2026/27 and 2027/28 as follows (2028/29 fees have not yet been announced, but likely to be 2–4% increase):
- 2026/27: £9,790
- 2027/28: £10,050
Note that the 2027/28 fee rate applies to both new starters and students who enrol in 2026/27.
Overseas fee payer rates are subject to increases of up to 5% in subsequent years of study on the same degree programme. You’ll need to budget for these increases as well as fluctuations in your own currency.
