Scholarship overview

GREAT Scholarships 2026, launched by the British Council's Study UK campaign together with a number of other UK universities, supports students from 18 countries to access world-class UK higher education opportunities.

The Study UK campaign is offering scholarships from 71 UK universities to students across 18 countries around the world. It offers an exciting opportunity for students from these countries to get financial support to pursue postgraduate study in the UK. The scholarship programme offers awards of a minimum of £10,000 to students pursuing 1-year postgraduate study in the UK. The scholarship amount will be deducted from tuition fees.

Number of awards

We are partnering with the British Council to award two GREAT Scholarships worth £10,000 to students from Indonesia and Pakistan for 2026 entry.

Eligible programmes

All full-time postgraduate taught (on campus) programmes beginning in September 2026 are eligible. Part-time and two-year programmes are not eligible.

  • Be an overseas fee-paying student.
  • Hold an Indonesian or Pakistani passport.
  • Hold an offer for a 1-year postgraduate taught programme at SOAS University of London beginning in September 2026.

Awards will be based on a combination of academic merit and the information given on the application form.

CAS

If you are successful in your application for this scholarship, you will be required to pay the CAS deposit of £4,000 as part of the conditions to accept the award. The CAS deposit is only refundable in a limited set of circumstances.

You should be mindful of this if you are accepting this scholarship with a conditional offer.

Sponsor

The GREAT Scholarships are sponsored by SOAS University of London and the British Council.

Important Information

You can apply for multiple scholarships and discounts, but only one can be accepted and applied to your tuition fees.
