Scholarship overview

The SOAS Master’s Scholarship (International) is designed to recognise and award overseas applicants with outstanding academic performance.

SOAS is offering over 150 International Master’s Scholarships valued at £8,000 in the form of tuition fee waivers.

Eligibility criteria

  • You must hold an offer for a full-time Postgraduate Taught (on campus) programme.
  • You must be an overseas fee-paying student.
  • You must hold a minimum UK upper second-class (2:1) or international equivalent.
  • You must not be in receipt of any other SOAS scholarship or full-fee scholarship/sponsorship from any other source
  • All joint partnership programmes are ineligible for this scholarship. 

Please note that if you have applied for a 2-year programme, the scholarship will be applied to the first year of tuition fees only.

Application deadlines

This scholarship is now open for 2026/2027. The deadline for each award round is:

  • First round - 28 February 2026 GMT+11:59pm
  • Second round - 30 April 2026 BST+11:59pm
  • Third round - 30 June 2026 BST+11:59pm

Applying to multiple scholarships

You can apply for multiple scholarships and discounts, but can only accept and apply one to your tuition fees. You cannot combine scholarships and discounts (e.g., alumni, family, or partnership discount), so if you’re successful in more than one application you will need to choose the option with the highest value.  

Notification of results

Successful applicants with an offer to study at SOAS will be notified within 10 working days of each deadline. This means that for the first round of scholarships successful applicants will be notified by Friday 13 March 2026

If you are successful and allocated the SOAS Master’s Scholarship (International), you will be required to pay the CAS deposit of £4,000 as part of the conditions to accept the award. Please note that the CAS deposit is only refundable in a limited set of circumstances

It is important to be mindful of this if you are accepting the International Postgraduate Scholarship with a conditional offer.

How to apply

Step one

Apply for your programme by 28 Feb, 30 Apr, or 30 Jun. Applicants must submit a complete online application for admission:

Applicants must have submitted a complete admission by the scholarship application deadline. The panel will be considering your scholarship application together with your online application for admission.

Step two

Apply for the scholarship by 28 Feb, 30 Apr, or 30 Jun. You must apply for this scholarship via the admissions portal. You will need to have applied for a course to get login credentials for this.
