Scholarship overview
The SOAS Research Academic Excellence Scholarship (Home) is designed to recognise and award UK Research applicants with outstanding academic performance.
SOAS will be awarding up to 10 full fee waivers (100% of tuition fees) for up to 3 years of study.
Eligibility
To be eligible for this scholarship you must:
- Have an offer for a full-time postgraduate research (on campus) programme beginning in September 2026.
- Be a Home (UK) fee-paying student.
- Hold a UK 2:1 or international equivalent.
Notification of results
Successful applicants will be notified by the end of July 2026.
Applying to multiple scholarships
You can apply for multiple scholarships and discounts, but can only accept and apply one to your tuition fees. You cannot combine scholarships and discounts (e.g., alumni, family, or partnership discount), so if you’re successful in more than one application you will need to choose the option with the highest value.
How to apply
Step one: apply for your programme
To apply for an MPhil/PhD programme, please visit our Doctoral School.

Step two: apply for the scholarship
Apply for the scholarship by 12 noon (UK local time) on 29 May 2026. You must apply for this scholarship via the admissions portal. You will need to have applied for a course to get login credentials for this.
