About this event
Two Books, One Thread: How Materialities Shape Power and Identity in the Philippines is a double book launch and discussion that brings together two new publications exploring how objects, materials, and material culture shape social meaning in the Philippines.
The event features Archaeology and the Law by Kathleen Tanttuico and Seams of Sedition by Stephanie Marie R. Coo, and invites audiences into a conversation that bridges archaeology, law, literature, and dress.
Together, the books examine how material forms—from archaeological heritage to clothing in José Rizal’s Noli Me Tangere—are deeply entangled with questions of power, identity, and history.
