About this event
Why has the war in Sudan proved so difficult to end, and what are the domestic and external interests that sustain it?
Professor Mekki Medani El Shibly will examine the political economy and regional dimensions of the conflict, and, importantly, the conditions and incentives that might make peace more viable than continued warfare. He will conclude by looking beyond cessation of hostilities towards the challenge of rebuilding legitimate and functioning civilian institutions.
