About this event
Join us for an engaging introduction to the fascinating world of linguistics at SOAS.
How do the world’s languages vary, and what do they have in common? How do humans acquire language(s), and what places them at risk of endangerment or extinction? These are some of the key themes explored in this session and examined in depth on the MA Linguistics at SOAS.
SOAS is unique in its focus on the languages of Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, as well as the communities who speak them and are working to support and revitalise them. In this webinar, you’ll gain insight into the enormous diversity of the world’s languages and be encouraged to think critically about what languages are, how they function, and why they matter.
This session is ideal for Postgraduate Taught students interested in language, culture, and global linguistic diversity. You’ll also have the opportunity to learn more about the MA programme structure, academic approach, and the wider SOAS community.
At the end of the webinar, you will also have the chance to ask any questions you may have.
We are running two sessions of the webinar, in the morning at 10:00am (UK time) and then later in the afternoon at 5:00pm (UK time). Please book for the session that's most convenient for you.
This event is part of our SOAS student webinar series, designed to provide you with all the essential information about being a SOAS student in London. Join us to explore topics like how to apply, secure funding, find accommodation, and enjoy student life once you arrive.
