SOAS Gallery features in London Higher Summer Showcase

The SOAS Gallery has been included in London Higher’s unmissable summer round-up of exhibitions and degree shows from universities across London.

London Higher, the voice of the higher education sector in the capital, has brought together a one-stop higher education events calendar to help guide the public to free and low-cost events showcasing students’ work at London’s universities, colleges and conservatoires this summer.

Special mention has been given to the “In-/Visible Spectrums: Contemporary Video Art from the Sinosphere” now on and “Embroidery Traditions of Afghanistan” exhibitions opening on 10 July within their guide.

The “In-/Visible Spectrums: Contemporary Video Art from the Sinosphere” exhibition, currently on display at the SOAS Gallery

Currently on display in the gallery, “In-/Visible Spectrums” provides a view into the everyday life and experiences of diasporic communities across borders of mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. The exhibition will be accompanied by a series of screenings and panel talks exploring the making and significance of video artworks by other Sinophone artists.

“Embroidery Traditions of Afghanistan” reveals the rich diversity, skill, and beauty of embroidery from across Afghanistan. The exhibition draws from the Karun Thakar collection, developed in collaboration with the V&A Museum.

London Higher is a leading platform higher education sector in London, representing universities and higher education institutions across the capital.
