Minimum entry requirements
The below are guidelines only and do not guarantee entry. Each application will be judged on its own merits.
Undergraduate study
SOAS welcomes applications from holders of the Vitnemål for direct entry to undergraduate programmes. Entry requirements vary between courses and this ranges between 4.5-5.0 overall. A typical offer for the BA (Hons) Politics would be an overall score of 5.0 on the Vitnemål for example.
International Baccalaureate
For International Baccalaureate (IB) applicants we require between 32 and 38 points depending on the programme applied for. For full details please refer to the undergraduate entry requirements.
Postgraduate study
SOAS welcomes applications from holders of the Bachelors degree (with Honours) for entry onto the taught Masters programmes. We would normally require a minimum overall B grade from the Norwegian Bachelors degree.
In addition to the above minimum entrance requirements, you should also refer to the individual programme entries in the postgraduate prospectus or in our postgraduate entry requirements.
English language requirements
A score of 5 in the English component of the Vitnemål will satisfy our English language requirements for undergraduate entry. Postgraduate applicants will be assessed on a case by case basis. After registration, students who have submitted this evidence, will meet a member of the academic English support staff to discuss whether attendance on an in-sessional English language course would be beneficial.
Student exchange
If you are a current Bachelors or Masters student in Norway you can study at SOAS for a semester or a full year on our study abroad programme. We currently have study abroad agreements with the following:
