About this event
How does pop music offer a resource for queer communities around the world?
Join us for a dynamic webinar that dives into the heart of queer music studies, exploring how artists, fans, and activists use sound, performance, and pop culture to build identity, create community, and challenge dominant narratives.
We’ll unpack key debates and theories in the field while listening closely to the musical strategies that have shaped queer expression across different cultures. Whether you’re curious about global LGBTQ+ activism, the politics of pop, or the power of music to transform social spaces, this session offers a thought‑provoking introduction to a rapidly growing area of study.
At the end of the webinar, you will also have the chance to ask any questions you may have.
We are running two sessions of the webinar, in the morning at 10:00am (UK time) and then later in the afternoon at 5:00pm (UK time). Please book for the session that's most convenient for you.
This event is part of our SOAS student webinar series, designed to provide you with all the essential information about being a SOAS student in London. Join us to explore topics like how to apply, secure funding, find accommodation, and enjoy student life once you arrive.
