SOAS storms to victory in University Challenge first round
As the latest season of the BBC's University Challenge reached the final episode of the first round, students from SOAS University of London beat opponents from University of Edinburgh by 160 points.
Capping off a high scoring performance of 240 points to Edinburgh’s 80 points; the four students had their fingers primed on the buzzers, answering quick-fire questions that tested their knowledge on science, geography, pop culture, music and more.
This year, the team is made up of four students, Josephine Newcombe (Korean Studies), Seb Lawson (Arabic), team captain Lola Finch (Liberal Arts) and Aiden Langston (Linguistics).
Qualifying through try-outs in the Students’ Union last year, the team brings specialist knowledge from both their studies and time outside of class to this first round of the show. SOAS wishes our University Challenge team the very best of luck and looks forward to seeing their progress in the second round of the competition.
