Applying for a postgraduate course

We are pleased you are interested in applying to SOAS. This page provides information on the application process, including the steps involved and what you need to do. 

Application window

Applications for postgraduate taught programmes starting in September 2026 are now open. 
The application deadline for Masters programmes is the 31st of July.

Students with additional requirements

We encourage applications from students with disabilities and consider all applications on academic grounds. If you have a disability that might affect your studies, please indicate this clearly on your application form. We make every effort to accommodate students with additional needs.  

Our procedure for the admission of disabled applicants is in accordance with the legislative requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act. We may invite you for an interview to discuss whether we can provide any special arrangements or required equipment.

Global Partnerships

If you are coming to SOAS to study a Dual Partnerships Masters through our Global Partnerships programmes, as well as completing all the application steps listed on this page, you will also need to:

  • Indicate the partner institution you are applying through in the application form.
  • Make reference to the Global Partnership programme you are applying for in your personal statement, and show your interest in studying through the partnership route.
  • Upload a nomination letter or an equivalent official document from your institution confirming your current student status and programme of study in the relevant section of the application form. 

Please note, this is for our dual partnership programmes only (not joint programmes).
