Minimum entry requirements

Undergraduate study

Applicants from Korea who hold the Academic or Vocational High School Diploma will be required to complete a recognised University Foundation Programme.

The International Foundation Courses and English Language Studies Centre (IFCELS) at SOAS offers a 10-month University Foundation Programme (ICC) for international students who wish to undertake an undergraduate degree at a British university.

Students who have completed the International Baccalaureate (IB), A-Levels or AP examinations will be considered for direct entry to our undergraduate programmes.

Postgraduate study

Taught Masters degrees

SOAS welcomes applications from students who have completed a four year Bachelor's degree with a cumulative GPA of 2.7/4.0 or 3.0/4.3 or 3.3/4.5 from a university with a selective admissions policy.

In addition you should refer to the individual programme of study for any specific academic requirements, please go to the postgraduate prospectus or postgraduate entry requirements.

Research degrees

Research applicants would normally be expected to have completed a Masters qualification from a good university. Please refer to Research degrees admissions  for further information.

Foundation courses

For applicants who do not meet the above entry requirements or would like to improve their English language before studying for a degree, SOAS provides a range of university preparation and language improvement programmes for international student.

English language requirement

Applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate they meet the School's English language requirements. SOAS does offer Pre-Sessional Courses for those who do not meet the exact entry requirements enabling students to have the opportunity to improve their language skills before beginning academic study.

Undergraduate students from Korea can study at SOAS on Exchange or Study Abroad from the following universities:

If your university does not have an exchange agreement with SOAS you can still apply to spend one semester or one year at SOAS as part of your undergraduate degree on SOAS' Study Abroad programme.

Scholarships

SOAS offers a number of Scholarships and Bursaries and there are other external scholarships.

Korean students who are holding offers for postgraduate taught programmes, can apply for the International Postgraduate Scholarship for Japan and Korea.
