Minimum entry requirements
These are guidelines only and do not guarantee entry. Each application will be judged on its own merits.
Undergraduate study
Students who have completed the International Baccalaureate (IB), A-Levels or AP examinations will be considered for direct entry to our undergraduate programmes. Please go to the SOAS undergraduate entry requirements page.
Applicants from Thailand who have completed the Matthayom 6 are not eligible for direct entry to an undergraduate programme at SOAS and are required to take a University Foundation Programme. SOAS offers a 10 month University Foundation Programme (ICC) for international students who wish to undertake an undergraduate degree at British universities.
Postgraduate study
Taught Masters programmes
For entry to SOAS taught Masters programmes a minimum GPA of between 3.0-3.5/4.0 is required from an undergraduate degree. The minimum GPA entry requirement varies between programmes.
Research
Research applicants would normally be expected to have completed a Masters qualification equivalent to a UK Masters degree. There may also be other specific entrance requirements. Please refer to Research degrees admissions.
English language proficiency
Applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate they meet SOAS’ English language entry requirements.
For students who do not meet the exact entry requirement SOAS offers excellent Pre-Sessional and Summer English language courses which can help to achieve the required language proficiency.

SOAS works with the following in-country representatives in Thailand. Please contact our representatives directly to ask any questions about applying to, and studying at SOAS. If you have any comments about these representatives, please contact Amy Mitchell-Bell: a.mitchell-bell@soas.ac.uk
