We offer a range of summer courses for English language development and introductions to academic subjects too. These courses are a great introduction to studying at an English speaking university.
You will need to be at least 17 years of age to apply. Normally, you will need to have graduated from high school, but in exceptional circumstances we can consider 17 year olds with one year of high school remaining.
All courses consist of 18 teaching hours per week and are taught in the daytime between 9 AM and 5 PM.

English language requirements for students choosing subject courses:
Students will need at least an intermediate level of English in order to understand the lectures, which are delivered at undergraduate level, and to engage in lively discussion in the seminars and tutorials.

The Summer Programme is intended for students with at least a pre-intermediate level of English and is not suitable for beginners or students with elementary level English. The English courses are offered at different levels, from pre-intermediate to advanced.
Tuition fees 2020:
3 weeks (1 block) £1,500 GBP
6 weeks (2 blocks) £2,900 GBP (save £100*)
9 weeks (3 blocks) £4,000 GBP (save £500*)
*Compared to the cost of multiple individual blocks. The reduced fees for multiple blocks above are available for 2 or 3 blocks booked at the same time. The fee for any additional blocks booked after the initial application will be £1,500 for one extra block and £3,000 for two.
We recommend you apply early, especially if you want accommodation in the SOAS Halls of Residence.
You will be sent an invoice for the course fees when you have accepted the offer of a place on the course. A letter of registration will be provided for visa purposes when you have paid the full fees. Please note that refunds of accommodation and course fees are made only at the discretion of SOAS. Self-catering accommodation is available in a SOAS Hall of Residence within easy walking distance of the Russell Square campus, where teaching takes place. You will have a single room with private shower and toilet; shared cooking and laundry facilities are available. All rooms have complementary wireless internet access.
All Summer students will be accommodated in Dinwiddy House or Paul Robeson House. If you would like to apply for one of these rooms, please select 'Course plus accommodation' on your application form.
