Biography
Steven is a Professor of Practice at the School of Law, Gender and Media, and a partner in the firm of Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP, where he focuses on international dispute resolution.
He has been involved as counsel or as an arbitrator in cases governed by the laws of jurisdictions in Europe, Asia, Africa, South America, and the U.S., as well as under bilateral and regional treaties.
He was part of a team that won a landmark decision in the first freedom of expression case in the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights as well as successfully representing clients in several cases in the European Court of Human Rights. His work has included assisting a Central European government to draft new arbitration legislation.
