Ghiasuddin Pir holds a Master of Arts degree in Social Anthropology from SOAS and a Master of Arts degree in Anthropology & Behavioural Studies from the University of Aberdeen, United Kingdom.

His prior research has delved into the intricacies of participatory development, the social construction and performativity of gender, and the complex dynamics surrounding depoliticisation and reconfigurations of public spaces.

Research interests

Doctoral research focuses on the social life of infrastructure, ethnographies of the state, and issues related to borders and migration. Within these theoretical domains, he is currently conducting research on the socio-cultural and environmental consequences of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor in Northern Pakistan.
