Biography

Ehireme is an economist and PhD candidate in Economics at SOAS, focusing on climate change and finance in Nigeria.

Ehireme is a Mo Ibrahim Governance for Development in Africa (GDAI) Scholar, whose doctoral research examines how financial systems and policy can support just, climate-aligned development pathways in Nigeria. Her work sits at the intersection of financial sector development, climate-aligned finance and macro-financial risk.

Prior to her PhD, Ehireme worked in economic consulting and market research in Nigeria. She has also held research fellowships with Stand.earth and SOLShare, examining capital flows into Amazon oil and gas infrastructure and financing for low-carbon transport. She has been quoted in Chemical & Engineering News and featured on TRT Afrika discussing climate finance in Africa.

Ehireme currently works as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at SOAS and holds an MSc in Economics from SOAS and a BSc in Economics from Babcock University, Nigeria.
