About this event

Zineb Sedira will discuss her work Dreams Have No Titles with the curator Ekow Eshun. This installation was presented at the Venice Biennial in 2022, when Sedira was the first artist of Algerian descent to be selected for the French pavilion. Through a film, props, costumes, film sets and archive material, Dreams Have No Titles weaves complex links between the history of Algerian cinema, filmmaking itself, and the artist’s own personal history.

About the artist

Born in France to an Algerian family, Zineb Sedira is based in London. She works across photography, installation and film, often drawing on the question of migration and people living between different cultures. Her work has been shown in numerous institutions. Her solo exhibition at Jeu de Paume in Paris (2019-20) was shortlisted for the 2021 Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation Prize. Dreams Have No Titles received a special mention from the jury at the 2022 Venice Biennale. It will be presented at the Hamburger Bahnhof in Berlin this Spring and next in London, at the Whitechapel Gallery in February 2024.
