Standard Bank Climate Summit: Africa's Journey to Net-Zero

Standard Bank and SOAS cordially invite you to attend the inaugural Climate Summit: Africa’s Journey to Net-Zero on 4 and 5 October 2021 from 1pm-5pm BST / 12pm-4pm SAST (each day).

This important two-day virtual summit will connect industry, investors, government, civil society organisations and some of Africa’s leading policymakers to shape a coordinated African ‘voice’ on climate change and unpack the role of financial institutions in achieving the Paris Agreement’s goal of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

This virtual convening will seek to answer critical questions, including:

• What is the ‘journey’ to net-zero in the African context and how do we mobilise investment needed to make this journey?
• What is the policy and regulatory landscape and what needs to change to enable the journey towards net-zero targets?
• How do we evaluate the application of various taxonomies, standards and frameworks towards climate strategy and reporting?
• How can we better identify and mitigate Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) risks and assess opportunities in transactions?
