Biography
Matilde holds a PhD degree in ‘Civilization, Society and Economy of the Indian Subcontinent’ from the University of Rome ‘La Sapienza’ (thesis title: ‘Social Movements and Development: The Case of Chilika Lake in India’); an MSc in Development Studies from SOAS; and a degree in Political Science from the University of Turin. She was a Lecturer in Political Science at the University of Turin from 2012 to 2017.
Research interests
Matilde has done extensive fieldwork in India. Her research interests focus on the political economy of India, with specific attention to neoliberalism, class-analysis and social conflicts on natural resources in the state of Odisha. She is currenlty working on a new research project entitled: ‘Washington Consensus, Post-Washington Consensus, Inclusive Growth and the ‘Integral State’: some theoretical reflections and the Indian case’.
