Biography
Yamika is a PhD candidate in Economics at SOAS University, with a background in economic policy.
She has worked in international diplomacy, facilitating trade policy between the US and the UK, and more recently she has researched climate policy and corporate engagement in the US.
Yamika is researching the relationship between biodiversity loss and the macroeconomy in South Asia and the implications for sovereign debt sustainability. She holds a BSc in International Business from Rutgers University and a MSc from SOAS in Economic Policy. Her master’s dissertation focused on green finance policies incentivizing renewable energy in India.
Yamika has worked with the UK government, working on bilateral climate and trade policy and more recently led research on corporate climate policy engagement in the US. Her PhD project is analyzing the relationship between ecosystem loss and the macroeconomy in Sri Lanka, and the implications for sovereign debt sustainability. She holds a BSc in International Business from Rutgers University and a MSc from SOAS in Economic Policy.
