In this module students will bring together the knowledge and skills acquired in the core module H201 Historical Research and the thematic modules that together form the heart of the second-year History programme. With the in-depth study of specific themes students will receive the guidance they need to identify and design a research project. This module will provide the space and guidance to execute it in the form of a 5000-word research essay. The module serves as a foundation for the dissertation project that students will undertake in their third year.
Objectives and learning outcomes of the module
LO1. develop and deliver a project, demonstrating the ability to monitor progress and provide and respond to feedback and critique;
LO2. present their work effectively in both oral and written form in a way that demonstrates their developing capacity to think like a historian.
Method of assessment
- Research paper, 5000 words (80%)
- Oral Presentation, 10 minutes (20%)
