Module overview
In this module students will bring together the knowledge and skills acquired in the core module H201 Historical Research and the thematic modules that together form the heart of the second-year History programme. With the in-depth study of specific themes students will receive the guidance they need to identify and design a research project. This module will provide the space and guidance to execute it in the form of a 5000-word research essay. The module serves as a foundation for the dissertation project that students will undertake in their third year.
Objectives and learning outcomes of the module
- develop and deliver a project, demonstrating the ability to monitor progress and provide and respond to feedback and critique;
- present their work effectively in both oral and written form in a way that demonstrates their developing capacity to think like a historian.
Method of assessment
- One research paper (4000 words) OR Alternative format (blog, podcast, documentary, etc, incl a 1000 word documentation of project)- (80%)
- One group presentation, 10 minutes (20%)
