SOAS appoints new Academic Registrar

We are pleased to announce that Philip Ramge has been appointed as our new Academic Registrar.

Philip is currently Head of Academic Affairs at CODE University of Applied Sciences, a startup university in Berlin with a technology focus, with responsibility for academic governance, quality assurance, assessment and examinations, and student records.

As Academic Registrar, Philip will be responsible for the strategic leadership of the Registry, which involves managing and developing the services across Student Records, Fees and Scholarships, Doctoral School, Examinations and Assessments, Quality Assurance, Visa Compliance and Timetabling.

Philip said: “I am very excited to join the team and the SOAS community, to build on its successful past and help move it forward in its next chapter. This is a great opportunity for me to make a difference, continue my work as a change maker, and help SOAS reach its full potential as it grows its portfolio and community. I am honoured to take on this role and look forward to meeting everyone.”

Director of Student and Academic Services Dr Monika Nangia said: “Philip has extensive experience in international higher education and has overseen academic quality across several European campuses. I am delighted that he will be joining us at SOAS and look forward to welcoming him in October.”

Prior to joining CODE, Philip was Academic Registrar at the London Film School (LFS) where he was responsible for leading the Registry, including admissions, student records, assessments, funding, and quality assurance. He also led LFS through a successful Higher Education Review and OfS registration.

Philip will join SOAS on 11 Oct.
