Biography

Fadi Mansour is a Senior Teaching Fellow in the Department of Near and Middle Eastern Studies and a doctoral student within the Centre for Cultural, Literary and Postcolonial Studies at SOAS, University of London, where he also obtained an MA in Near and Middle Eastern Studies. Prior to moving to the UK to undertake his postgraduate work, he graduated from North Carolina State University with a BA in History and a Minor in Middle East Studies.

PhD Research

Mr Mansour's doctoral work revolves around the discursive bridges that narrate a dialectical space of conflict and of everyday life in the occupied Palestinian territories through nonverbal dialogues in public space – and with a particular emphasis on the polysemous narratives of Palestinian graffiti throughout the West Bank. As a sub-focus of his work, Mr Mansour also looks at the ways in which a century-long conflict and a half-century of occupation have become routinized within the post-Oslo landscape through Palestinian quotidian praxis. And this has increasingly led him to explore the spatial intersections that exist between Israeli power, international development assistance, and forces of globalisation and cosmopolitanism among Palestinian urban centres.
