Biography

Mitiku is an Associate Professor of Social Anthropology at the Department of Anthropology, Mekelle University, Ethiopia. For the past 10 years, Mitiku has taught development anthropology, environmental anthropology, medical anthropology and political anthropology courses with a focus on disadvantaged ethnic/political groups. His current research focuses on cultural identity, parliament and political representation in Ethiopia. Mitiku is a Mandela Washington fellow of 2014 and a visiting scholar at the Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology in Germany in 2019.
